- Working with Haringey Council to establish the Haringey Apprenticeship Delivery Framework
Currently providing programme management services to implement the Haringey Apprenticeship Delivery Framework Central government has indicated a clear commitment to encouraging the use of large scale regeneration projects to alleviate the impact of the imminent economic downturn. Ensuring that local people are able to access the employment opportunities generated by the large scale developments taking place within the borough is a priority of the economic regeneration team, with recognition of the importance of providing transparent mechanisms for local tradesmen to access and consider tender opportunities, and for residents to access job opportunities on the various contracts available.
The Government will use the huge leverage available to it through public procurement to promote skills and apprenticeships, and commit to ensuring that all publicly let contracts contain relevant skills training and apprenticeship requirements. The economic downturn has seen central government make firm commitments on procurement, expected to create 7000 new apprenticeships in construction alone.
Haringey Council has placed considerable priority on how to utilise apprenticeships to support their employment and skills strategy. With reference to two of the main regeneration programmes, Decent Homes (via Homes for Haringey) and Building Schools for Future (BSF), with a combined proposed spend of £400m over the next fours years, te council have outlined specific aims to increase the use of local labour and apprenticeships to deliver services.
We are working closely with the following directorates and institutions to establish an effective model of partnership delivery for modern apprenticeships.
